Section kickoff

Answer a few quick questions before starting collection.
NEW SECTION

What are you inspecting?

Pick the section type, then tap the map to draw it — or walk it with GPS, handy where tree canopy blocks the aerial view.
SETTINGS

Project settings

ID sequences, auto-save, basemaps. More sections will land as features come online.

Feature ID sequences

Next IDs (per type, project-wide)
Monotonic across sections — adding to a section later keeps counting up.

Auto-save & backup

Auto-save to browser
Silent save to localStorage. Recovers on reload.
Backup snapshot to file
Full JSON bundle prompt — one tap to save.

Photo triage

Group time gap
Max seconds between two photos for them to be in the same suggested group.
60 s
Group max distance
Two photos beyond this many metres apart never join the same suggested group, even if shot seconds apart.
30 m

GPS & tracking

Follow offset (Lock + Offset mode)
With the satellite-LOCK set to “+ Offset”, the map recenters only after the GPS dot drifts past half this distance from the view centre.
GPS-walk trace spacing
When tracing a new section by walking it (the 📍 Walk button on the trace banner), a vertex is recorded each time you move this far from the last one. Tighter spacing = more detail.
GPS trace simplification
When a GPS-walked section or line/polygon feature is finished, vertices sitting within this distance of a straight run are dropped — curves keep their detail. Off keeps every point.
Snap walked features to road centerline
A GPS-walked line feature is rebuilt to follow the section centerline at its measured offset — curve-aware vertices, no GPS noise. Default for new walk tracks; uncheck per track when a feature genuinely departs from the road.

Dropdown lists

Shared dropdown library
Edit the option lists used by the data-entry forms. Keeping these consistent means a compiled feature list sorts cleanly on Repair Type, Condition, etc. New values can also be added on the fly from a form's dropdown.

Basemap

Street View launch
Tap a feature → "Street View" opens Google Maps in a new tab. No API key.

API keys (optional)

Nearmap
Enterprise aerial imagery. Paste your key to enable the Nearmap basemap button.
Google Maps
Needs Maps JavaScript API + billing enabled in Google Cloud.
Keys are held in memory only — they are not saved to disk or included in exports. Enter once per session; refresh clears them.

Photo Watermark

Burn watermark onto captured photos
Composited at capture time into the bottom-left of each photo. Does not affect uploaded images.
